Some shoes are just classics. They eschew the proverbial bells and whistles because what’s the point when you can just put an incredible timeless product out there…
The Brooks Adrenaline GTS is one of these shoes. For 17 years now it has been the go-to stability shoe for millions of runners, providing the perfect balance between support and cushion to give overpronating runners a smooth, comfortable ride.
Because this shoe is so iconic in its product line, Brooks rarely makes dramatic structural changes – each year the update receives some subtle tweaks that make the running experience better. Here’s what’s new about version 17:
An updated V-Groove in the midsole:
The lateral side of the shoe compresses a little more easily as you strike the ground. This is a good thing, as it helps you roll through the gait cycle with more fluidity.
Retooled overlays through the midfoot:
Brooks moved around some overlays to better hug the arch and provide some structure as you go from heel to toe.
Wraparound heel collar:
The shoe grabs you a little bit better in the heel, and this plush comfort extends toward the midfoot for a secure, supportive fit.
Wider toe box:
The toe box in the 17 has a little more mesh and a little less taper, providing a more open fit where you need it most.
BOTTOM LINE:
We love this update. Brooks did just enough to make a great shoe even better, without losing the essence of this classic shoe. Like what you see? Get a new pair of Adrenaline 17‘s at your nearest Marathon Sports or at marathonsports.com!
