MEET THE STAFF
Preston Ranton (General Manager)
Preston Ranton is the General Manager and has been with soundRUNNER, in some way, shape or form since the stores inception in 2001. Preston’s mother and step-father opened the store feeling there was a void in the running community. Preston graduated from the University of Miami in 2006 and became the Branford store manager when he came home. He started running with soundRUNNER’s beginning running program in 2007, feeling like he should walk the walk if he could talk the talk. Since he has completed RUNSTART, he has completed the New York City Marathon, Hartford Half Marathon, two Ragnar Relays, one Reach the Beach and a handful road races. He runs for fitness and social enjoyment, but does like to hammer at the end of a race.
Lisa Sparago (Branford Store Manager)
Lisa Sparago is the store manager at the Branford location, and has been with soundRUNNER for about a year and a half. She started running in college for fitness and has picked it up since working here. She enjoys hearing about people’s goals and helping them accomplish them. Working here has made her maintain a healthier lifestyle. Lisa is a non-competitive runner who enjoys going out for runs and working out at the gym to keep in shape. Her goal is to complete a half marathon in the near future.
Chaz Koch (Glastonbury Store Manager)
Chaz Koch started with soundRUNNER in April 2010 after fulfilling his military service. After leaving for a little over a year he is very excited to be back working and living on the shoreline! Chaz grew up in Old Saybrook and didn’t take up competitive running until his junior year of high school. He went on to receive a scholarship to Southern Connecticut State University where he competed in cross county, as well as indoor and outdoor track & field. After a long hiatus from competitive running, Chaz is back and competing in many local road races (CT grand prix races mainly). He even completed his first marathon in January 2013 (The Goofy challenge in Disney).
Chaz still follows the sport of Track and Field closely and loves watching or attending meets whenever he can.
Steve Swift ran Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track at Xavier High School. He was a cross Country and Outdoor Track All-American at the College of William & Mary. After college he qualified for the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Trials in the marathon and competed at the 1999 World Championships. He was a member of the Fila Discovery training program and the Team USA
Brownstone training group. He has been coaching high school Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track for 15 years and has worked at soundRUNNER for 7 years.
